Marcus Veil is an award-winning filmmaker whose work has screened at Cannes, Venice, Berlin, and Sundance. Born in Prague and trained at FAMU, he has spent fifteen years crafting films that sit at the intersection of personal mythology and political reality.
His visual language is defined by long takes, natural light, and a refusal to explain — trusting the audience to inhabit the silence between words. His debut feature Salt & Ash won the Palme d'Or at Cannes in 2014, establishing him as one of the defining voices of contemporary European cinema.
In 2017, he founded Veil Pictures, an independent production company dedicated to financing and producing films that would otherwise not exist — stories from the margins, told with uncompromising artistic vision.
